Or would you rather skip the pain and settle for a professionally built system from a well known brand? It’s your call, you have the freedom of picking or building your best home theater systems! Let’s go through the individual components and see how detailed things can get.
The source components
This is the ‘source’ of the audio and video signals. It can be from an audio CD player, a DVD player (or Blu-Ray), a VCR (Video Cassette Recorder) or even an AM-FM radio (although some people would categorize this together with the amplifier and sound system. In rare cases, someone may even want a turn table in his home theater system. Another component that we cannot forget about nowadays is the DVD recorders. Since we’re not going to settle for anything less than the best home theater systems, you are probably looking at including more than one piece from the above list although not all of them are necessary.
The video display device
From the ‘source’ will originate sound and video. In this little section, we’re going to talk about video. Where do you want it to appear on? On a television screen (Plasma, LCD, rear projection or CRT) or do you want to see the movies on a giant screen? In the latter case, you will of course need a projector! This will also depend on the size of the room that you want your best home theater system located.
Sound system
As we said earlier, the ‘source’ gives out both audio and video. We have already talked about where we wanted to watch video on and now let’s talk about audio. We very well know that sound comes out through the speakers. But before it goes to the speaker set, the signal needs to be processed and distributed to the respective components in an organized manner. This is where this piece of equipment comes into play. It consists of three components; that is the AV receiver, the pre-amplifier and a multi-channel amplifier (5.1, 6.1, or 7.1 channels).
From this component, now the sound signals are distributed to the sub-woofer, loud speakers and the surround sound system via connection cables and/or wireless mechanisms (especially for wireless surround sound speaker systems).
We’ve talked about the main components of the Best Home Theater Systems above. The other components that are mentioned above are pretty straight forward and self explanatory, so we will not waste your time on that!
